Maybe The JP Was A Good Idea...

This wedding is becoming a pain... and we're having a mini-wedding.

We'll be in Vegas from May 18-21, we have the location of the ceremony booked, only we don't know where we're staying. Apparently there are three large conventions and one major poker tournament in town. Rooms that are normally $109 are running for $280. It's ridiculous.

So the decision comes down to either convenience (being on the strip) or a little nicer place (off the strip). We've concluded that we're not paying almost $300 a night for the Monte Carlo, MGM Grande, or the Aladdin. Hell, we'll be on our honeymoon the minute we leave Vegas, so we'll save the overindulgence for that week.

What we've found is Bill's Gambling Hall and Saloon -- formerly the Barbary Coast. The impression I'm left with is that the Barbary Coast wasn't anything special... at all. It's on the strip near the Bellagio, New York New York, and Caesar's Palace. There appears to have been heavy renovations, and the quality has increased.

The reviews are spectacular, with very few negative comments, but I'm still hesitant. I suppose it's the relatively inexpensive price for a place that could be charging more.

This is pathetic. A large majority of the wedding plans are being made for us, yet we still are making this more difficult than it should be.

I think it'll be Bill's.
