I Can't See Texas From Here...

Damn I miss Texas. Laying in bed, listening to Texas Country Music, makes me realize what I'm missing.

I miss being in the honky tonk listening to Kevin Folwer and Cory Morrow, not punk music like One Armed Wanda and the Butterfly Cocktails.

I miss the way people in Texas start a chant at the dance hall, then at the next show, it appears on a t-shirt. Funny t-shirts though; not some political or environmental shit like "impeach the government" or "save the hairless raccoon" as in Colorado.

I miss people being polite. When I walk down the street, I want people to look at me and say hello, not purposely treat me like Madusa.

I miss barbeque pits with steak and chicken... to hell with smoothies and vegeterian food.

Every once in a while, I want a Lone Star Beer. No disrespect to Coors Light, but variety is nice.

Paying a state income tax sucks... Texas has the right idea.

I miss the Houston Astros and a full ballpark... not a team below .500 and in last place.

I miss the heat... to hell with the snow.

I'd prefer to pay $140,000 for beautiful home in a nice neighborhood... not $300,000 for a 1200 square foot condo.

I miss being forty-five minutes from the beach, one hour from Houston, three hours from Austin and San Antonio, and four hours from Dallas and New Orleans. The micro-breweries in Fort Collins are nice, and the plains of Cheyenne offer a nice distraction, but it doesn't compare to a weekend on the Comal River or a party on Bourbon Street.

I want a Whataburger, fries, and a couple ketchup packages. Damn I miss their ketchup!

I want to see a show at the Midnight Rodeo.

Pat Green sang about a "nightmare," but he woke up. While we're making a great life in Denver, being closer to home would be a better circumstance.

I don't know if Texas misses me, but people like Davy Crockett, James Bowie, and Sam Houston made sure it would survive without me.

God only knows I miss her, though.

I miss Whataburger, too. But I wish I were in Denver instead of Atlanta.=)

Hey, move to San Diego and you'd never miss it again!!

Man I know exactly what you mean. Thats why you have to bring a little Texas to Denver. We are going to be grilling steaks Sunday afternoon if you are interested. Just let me know.

WOW do I ever feel you on this one!!!

I'm going through what Schlumberger calls a Career Orientation Review, and obviously location is part of the picture. I couldn't help but want to say "SEND ME TO TEXAS!", but then again I could end up in Perryton! So I stuck to asking for the "US Central Geomarket". We will see where I end up! I can't help but hope for Longview, Brian, Bossier City (close), etc...

Wish me luck!

Oh Derrick no truer words have ever come out of your mouth. Everybody here in Arkansas walks around calling hogs and interrupting daytime TV with Razorback updates. The closest mall is an hour away. They DON'T HAVE DAIRY QUEEN in Ft. Smith. Or Whataburger. Or Lone Star Beer. Or Cactus Canyon. Or Aggies. I am with Adam---send me home!
