New Places...

My wife is helping with a fashion show tonight, meaning I get to come long.

Don't get the wrong idea - I love supporting my wife.

The place is called Cervantes, and we're at "The Mixed Bag Festival," and the fashion show features Earth concepts, basically meaning it's advocating 'going green.'

There's a girl on stage wearing a dress, covered by the plastic that holds a six-pack together. Lots of them.

To describe the ambiance, wearing the plastic doesn't seem out of place.

Videos are being played showing how we're destroying the Earth with fuels, and wasting energy... blah, blah, blah.

That's not my fight.

Now there's a guy breakdancing in the middle of the floor.

I can't make this shit up.

But honestly, it's a good cause. Good music and people having fun aren't bad.

Plus my wife loves the fashion show.

It's just a different. I'm learning to be comfortable around "different."

Isn't that one of the many reasons I moved to Denver?

A Hippie University Earns My Respect...

The University of Colorado fired controversial activist Ward Churchill on Tuesday, and in the process, earned my respect.

If only my opinion mattered to the university.

Here's the misconception, however: most people believe he was fired for his ridiculous comments regarding 9/11 victims. While his comments brought attention to his literature, in reality, he was fired for "misconduct," which included plagarism.

To maintain their credibility, CU Boulder decided that firing Churchill was in their best interest.

For a university that is known for it's stark liberalism and support of free speech, it certainly made the right decision. Plagarism is not free speech, and is a clear violation of the rights of another's creativity.

Now Ward Churchill is going to sue, and if the evidence supports the university's decision, he'll get squashed in court. I do, however, have this feeling that he'll win the lawsuit, and the jury will deliver an asenine verdict, as in the O.J. Simpson trial.

Time will tell, but as of today, hippies like Ward Churchill are crying across the country.

I Can't Escape The Hippies...

St. Patrick's Day was fun, except for the damn hippies.

So my posse and I are at a bar having a few beers when a girl stands next to us and orders from the bartender.  We've all been drinking, she seemed polite, so we strike up a short conversation while she waits.

Within what seemed to be twenty seconds of our conversation, she says (out of nowhere), "society dictates what we do."  The comment was unwarrented, unprovoked, and completely random.

Sternly, I asked, "you're not a damn hippy, are you?"

She proceeded to tell me that she was a "stylish hippy," and seemed genuinly proud I noticed.

I, however, was not amused.

I respect all walks of life, including step-children, transvestites, and people from Oklahoma - but God screwed up when he created hippies.

They almost prove God is faulable.

I proceeded to tell her of my discomfort with 'her kind,' and without argument, she walked away.

These damn pot smokin', no bra wearing, tree huggers have been all over the city lately.  The wear tie-die t-shirts and carry signs that read "Bush Is An Idiot."

The President has a degree from Harvard and Yale, respectively.  Hippies get high on acid and discuss what Cheetos would taste like dipped in brownie fudge.

They're everywhere in this damn city.

Make Up Your Mind...

If you believe in something, you and I may not agree, but as long as you have an educated base that isn't trivialized and actually follow through with your conviction, I will respect you.

On the other hand, if you don't seem to make sense, you get made fun of.

While I love eating meat, I understand that not everyone feels the same. People that choose to be a vegetarian because of the health effects, or some other logical reason, can be appreciated. I have never, however, understood how someone can claim to be a vegetarian because they do not want to see harm to animals, yet not be vegan.

I met a woman who claims to love animals, therefore, doesn't eat meat. I asked why she chose not to 'go all the way', and she said, "if I can afford it, I would." Apparently buying clothes, hair products, etc. that hasn't been tested on animals isn't cheap.

Whatever.

If you believed in it, you support it.

Fuckin' hippies.

Oh... My... God...

Have you seen this? Click the box once it's loaded.

Here is my prayer:

Lord, I pray this video is a parody. If it isn't, please find two very large, well endowed, bear-homosexuals to find this man and sodomise him ungraciously.

Because I don't know if it's real, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be disgusted or amused because of the ridiculousness this represents.

If you're not very familiar with God's message, please remember, God doesn't hate fags; he doesn't hate anyone -- except hippies.
